George C. Tai

George Tai practices securities and business law with a focus on advising technology and oil & gas companies. George has extensive experience in structuring start-up companies, financings, and initial public offerings on both the TSX and the TSX Venture Exchange.

Acting primarily for public and private technology and resource issuers, George has considerable experience in public and private equity and debt offerings, mergers and acquisitions, take-over bids, plans of arrangement, reverse take-overs and limited partnership financings. George also provides expertise in asset and share purchase and sale transactions, corporate reorganizations, joint ventures, shareholder agreements and the implementation of general commercial transactions

George held senior executive positions in legal, finance and operations with private and public (TSX and NASDAQ) technology companies prior to returning to the private practice of law in 2004. With a business background in venture capital investments, George was also formerly registered at the Alberta Securities Commission as a registered investment advisor. George has been a director and corporate secretary of several public companies and provides advice on securities laws compliance and corporate governance.

George speaks Mandarin Chinese and has international legal experience structuring and negotiating on behalf of domestic clients, complex commercial and licensing contracts in the People's Republic of China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Korea and Europe. George has successfully negotiated on behalf of his clients, numerous licensing and commercial business arrangements with several multinational original equipment manufacturers and telecommunications companies, including NOKIA, Sony Ericsson, Samsung, LG Electronics, Nintendo and Alcatel and has managed intellectual property disputes in both the People's Republic of China and the United States.
