Donald R. Leitch
Don Leitch is the department head of the firm’s Corporate, Securities and Mergers & Acquisitions Group. His practice focuses on securities, business and energy law with an emphasis on mergers and acquisitions, corporate finance and corporate reorganizations.
Don represents a variety of private and public companies in the oil & gas, mining, service, high tech and industrial sectors, as well as private investment funds and limited partnerships. Advising on trust creation and representing investment dealers and special committees, his practice includes a significant international component encompassing international oil and gas transactions with clients holding interests in Russia, Spain, Italy and Tunisia.
With a respected track record in mergers and acquisitions, Don’s counsel includes corporate plans of arrangement, formal take over-bid transactions, asset and share transactions, amalgamations and reverse take-overs. Within his securities practice, he covers all matters related to the sale or purchase of securities including private placements, initial public offerings and prospectus offerings. He also advises on securities commission regulatory compliance and stock exchange requirements, along with corporate governance, management and director obligations. In addition to his extensive securities experience Don administers expertise in general corporate law, oil & gas law and commercial transactions.
Don sits as an officer or director of a number of private and public companies and is a past president of the Calgary Winter Club. He is also a member of the Calgary Advisory Committee for the TSX Venture Exchange.
